Pictus 1.5.0 released

Pictus 1.5.0 have just been released with both new features and a lot of stability improvements. The most notable additions is that Pictus now supports EXIF orientation data, so now all photos should be properly rotated by default. It also adds a few new ways to set the wallpaper, depending on which version of Windows you are using. Further, the “resize window to image” function have received some optimizations and should now feel snappier.

The biggest improvements though are invisible. Pictus have been now been subjected to weeks of automated testing which have uncovered quite a few nasty crashes when loading images. Some of these crashes may have been exploitable, so the upgrade is highly recommended from a security perspective.

Many thanks for adding support for automatic rotation according to EXIF! I appreciate this feature very much and now I can use Pictus on a regular basis. Best regards.

There must be some bug which appeared only in version 1.5.0- it is not portable since it creates an empty file- ‘C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Poppeman\Pictus\runlog.txt’. However this doesn’t appear in Pictus version 1.5.1. This problem has been discussed here- http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21611.

Yeah, I considered that language bug quite serious so I completely forgot mentioning the (now removed) runlog. I’ll add that to the changelog!

If it makes a return in the future, it will be placed next to the .ini file and will be opt-in.

Wow – this is excellent – light weight and fast!!! It may just oust XnView from being my #1 image viewer
